The Bus Shelter was erected in 1953, in what is now the entrance to Orchard Close, it was formally opened on Coronation Day. The shelter was later demolished to make way for Orchard Close and a new one erected  in its current location just to the north of the entrance.

THE PROGRAMME ARRANGED FOR YOUR PLEASURE IS –

  1. AT 10.30AM- 1.30PM

A TELEVISION SET WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE CHAPEL TO SHOW THE CORONATION CEREMONY ETC.

  1. AT 2.00 PM

PUBLIC OPENING OF THE BUS SHELTER BY MR. J.B. CHAPMAN ASSISTED BY THE PARISH COUNCIL.

  1. AT 2.30. PM

SPORTS FOR THE CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH LOTS OF PRIZES. TO BE HELD IN MR. COX’S FIELD AT THE TOP OF NEW ROAD. CHILDREN BRING YOUR TRICYCLES AND PRAMS.

  1. AT 4.30. PM

TEA PARTY FOR THE CHILDREN KINDLY PROVIDED BY MRS. HILLSDON ON THE LAWN AT HER HOME. PLEASE BRING A CUP.

  1. AT 7.30 PM

A SOCIAL EVENING IN THE SCHOOL THE TOAST “HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN” WILL BE AT 8.00 PM. THERE WILL BE A BUFFET REFRESHMENTS CONSISTING OF FOOD, BEER, WINES, MINERALS, CORDIALS ETC. SO WILL EVERYONE PLEASE BRING WHATEVER GLASS OR CHINA THEY MAY REQUIRE. THERE WILL BE IMPROMPTU GAMES AND DANCING AND A FEW MORE PRIZES.

  1. EARLIER IN THE DAY A CORONATION PARCEL WILL BE DELIVERED TO THE AGED AND INFIRMED.
