Sheep Wash

(abstracted from Charney Bassett Through the Centuries by Jasmine S Howes 1975)

There was formerly a sheep wash to be seen in the stream, between the mill and the bridge and almost opposite the Church, with a cobbled run down to the Ock. The sheep brought here to be washed, were kept in pens nearby and the remains of their stone walls are still standing.
