Charney from the air 1944
In August of 2023 a collection of photographs taken during World War Two were opened to the public for the first time. The aerial images are available via Historic England and were taken by the US Army Air Forces (USAAF) Photographic Reconnaissance units while stationed at bases across England in 1943 and 1944.
Charney features in one of the tracks (Jan 1944) which provides some interesting images of the surroundings and Charney in the days before the houses were built in Buckland Road, Orchard Close, Barnfield, Manor Farm/The Green and some of those in Main St and Longworth Road
